Brittany Derynda grew up in Oconomowoc, WI and attended UW–Madison for her undergraduate studies, graduating with majors in Neurobiology and Psychology with a certificate in Leadership. Brittany and her cousin, Jessie, are the founders of Cardiac on Campus, which was created after Brittany's older brother, Jon, collapsed and died of sudden cardiac arrest while they were running the Rock & Sole half marathon together in June of 2015. Cardiac on Campus was formed with the hope to increase access to life-saving AEDs in Madison, WI and on offering free CPR training, ultimately sparing other families from losing young adults to sudden cardiac arrest. After undergrad, Brittany worked as a medical scribe in Chicago for one year prior to attending Nova Southeastern University in Fort Lauderdale, FL for medical school. Brittany graduated in May 2023 from Nova Southeastern University with a Master's degree in Public Health and doctoral degree in Osteopathic Medicine. She is currently completing her first year of residency at the Medical College of Wisconsin in Obstetrics and Gynecology.
