Jessica Miller, Co-Founder
Jessica (Jessie) Miller grew up in Milwaukee, WI and attended UW–Madison for her undergraduate studies, graduating with majors in Biology and African Cultural Studies. During the Rock & Sole half marathon in June of 2015, Miller’s cousin, Jon Derynda, collapsed at the finish line and died of sudden cardiac arrest. In the wake of such a tragic loss, co-founders Jessie and Brittany hoped that founding Cardiac on Campus could spare other families from losing young adults due to sudden cardiac arrest. The focused their efforts on increasing access to life-saving AEDs in Madison, WI and on offering free CPR training. During undergraduate, Miller worked as an AEMT in Marshall, WI. She completed a yearlong MENAR fellowship in Amman, Jordan working for Collateral Repair Project. She is now a medical student at the Medical College of Wisconsin (MCW) in Milwaukee. Miller will graduate in 2024 and pursue a residency in Emergency Medicine.
